CCA Now the CCF Charity Event

For those of you who doesn’t know, Lora Innes of The Dreamer Comic is leading the Comic Creators Alliance again this time with a new name. The CCA is now known to as the Comic Creators for Freedom (CCF) and all information about this event is located at their website.

The CCA was created to help fight human trafficking and many of us comic creators have joined with Lora to make a huge digital wallpaper for the cause. Those that have chosen to donate will receive a digital download of the wallpaper for their desktop. I believe there are other ways to support the cause to stop human trafficking as well like buying prints for those that want to have a physcial form of the themed wallpaper.

Two years ago the CCA had raised up to $10,000 for the both Love146 and Gracehaven, last year $5,000. With over 100 comic creators participating last year an about 80 the year before. I would like to spread the word to my fellow comic creators or even ARTISTS out there that may be interested in joining. You don’t have to be a comic creator to join I don’t think, but it would probably be preferred since it requires you to have a female character to participate in the themed wallpaper. If you don’t have a comic but a character I’m sure it would be fine to use a link to your art portfolio or something. You might have to email the head director in all this to find out.

This is also a good way to get exposure for your site and it is for a good cause. You may also learn a thing or two about the cause and why organizations like Love146 and Gracehaven was formed.

Holiday’s again. The end of 2011.

Projects upon projects that I have to do get done before I head out to visit my family in CT and NY. I was hoping to get some buffers in for this month because I know it’s a very hectic month to be working on any comic pages at all yet alone my own new project. So lack of updates during this season is imminent. Probably no updates until after the 6th of January which is a long time to go without updates and that being I will lose visitors I suppose because they will think the comic is dead. Honestly it’s not, and I know I should make this my top priority if it’s something I am passionate about, which I am but priorities for me have to be in the order of family > commissions > trades > comic.

I’ll post up some fillers in the mean time though like the Evolution of said Characters. I kinda like those post cause I look back at the first drawings of these characters many years ago and I can see how the style has changed. Plus seeing improvements in proportions and overall look. Although the Evolution of series of pinups will probably be the following characters: Serge, Kurashu, Kyohaku, Auken, Kokoro, Spirit, Ruri, Leo, Jarsyl, Miyoko, Orien, King Yume, Azrael, and Alekk. These are probably the first characters I have drawn to start the series up. Any characters drawn after these guys from this point on will not have an evolution pinup until probably  a few years from said creation date.

Well with the holidays coming up again this is probably the main reason why the comic doesn’t update and for good reason. Family get together, homemmade gifts because the family I married into is  a big family and well we can’t afford to buy great expensive gifts to span the generation of the family tree. As for my side of the family it was just my parents, my two sisters and my brother. Now I have a little one that I’d love to keep happy although some days it’s just frustrating to deal with her because she can be such a drama queen about the littlest thing, but we love her with all our hearts and so far she is the only one and we would like to give her the best Christmas she could have every year because the universe only knows if I will ever have another one to expand our family.

Though when after my birthday has come to pass I will try to get back on to updating the comic regularly. Finish off Chapter 3 because I need to get out of the habit of one Chapter being 2 years long. It’s not healthy for a comic. =/

Updates to the site and support.

As I did some rearranging to the layout, and if you are suddenly bombarded by advertisement my deepest apologies. However if you do not wish to see the advertisements, you would have to sign up for an account to view the site without ads. Signing up for a DE site account is free. If you do not wish to sign up the ads will stay in the sidebars, and above the comics and as long as the ads are displayed then well it’s bringing in some cash to keep the server running.

Also if you are signed up you will have a referral link that will allow you to refer others to sign up. With sign up and referal link you will be granted points and each day to log in to the site you get more points. Each referral that signs up under your link will give you points and they will get starter points. What are points going to be used for? Pretty much to purchase anything off the DE site store (not the cafepress store.) This would include digital wallpapers, stickers, buttons, commission requests, etc. The main site store is still under construction, but it is something to look forward to.

However the points system doesn’t work with the forums and I am figuring out how to make it work. So far you get points for signing up, logging on each day, referrals that signs up under your link, watching and embedded YouTube video on this site, comments on any news post or comic updates, and paypal purchase for points(still in construction).

I have been away from the computer for a couple of weeks due to my yearly vacation to Anaheim, CA for BlizzCon with my husband so there were no page updates, but the up coming weeks there will be pin-up updates and fanart submission updates while I get things settled again. My desk is skewed with reminisce of my trip to BlizzCon and I have to reorganize everything so that I can be comfortable to work with my tablet again. I mean I can’t work with a messy desk or room. It drives me crazy.

Well I have to get back to cleaning up so I can start working on the comics and blogging again. =3

Artist block is the worst possible disease ever!

by PhoenixCrash on October 3, 2011 at 3:04 am

Sadly no updates this week. All because I couldn’t decide how to draw this page out and how it should be interpret. Yeah I’ve had artist block all week and couldn’t do much of anything about it. So maybe I’m going to go to the pencil and paper route for a bit to try to push out the next page, but I am so not wanting to go on another hiatus again. At least I want to put up something to show and keep content updated on the site. Not too sure what I would do though. Pin ups maybe or even a sketch dump.

I just gotta just sketch to keep the motivation up. I also have so many projects in my head that I want to do as well. I never seem to plan the time for it. Well I’m sure first things first, I need to rearrange my desk again. I need to have my desk set up in a way that I have everything at hand and I could be able to get the best lighting out of it. So my printer has to be moved to the other side of the desk. My makeup supply to where the printer is and I have to clean out under my desk. Just many things I need to do and catch up on.

There will be a new page posted as soon as I get it completed. I promise.

HEEELP my AC went FRIIITTZZZZZzzzzz.

by PhoenixCrash on September 15, 2011 at 8:43 am

I know there’s suppose to be an updated page today but this week my AC unit fritz-ed out. Well it started by freezing over then we let it defrost so it wouldn’t burn up cause of the ice. Then the defrost leaked to the actual electric unit and of course when you start smelling fried electronics you start to freak out and flip the breaker switch so no further damage is done to what’s left of it and cause it to burn the house down. Well that is what happened and our AC is down. Considering that the AC doesn’t work right now I can’t really push updates on a normal schedule to save us from dying in the heat. I know it’s suppose to be all cool down cause it’s fall and what not but to those of you that don’t live down south, especially Florida, you have no idea how this current weather and upcoming weather is going to look like for us. To those that do live in Florida you know what I’m talking about.

So no AC means trying not to keep the lights on during the day so that we keep the house cool, because lights generate heat. So does my computer tower and oh boy does it generate the heat. I had to pack two extra fans into that thing so I could game, and I might have to pack one more. Right now typing this out on my laptop cause it generates less heat given than my tower, and it’s going to cost $2000 to get the ac fixed according to my uncle. I suppose I can say he’s my uncle if he’s my husband’s uncle. Cause Uncle-in-law is just a mouthful.

Anyway this just means I might just have to update one page the next few weeks until the AC is fixed. Sadly I can’t work on getting buffers for the comic as well either. At least not so hardcore. I might just have to go old school traditional pencil to paper to get updates or buffers going until this whole things situates itself.

I hope whatever readers I have understands this situation. I’ll keep posted about it on my twitter accounts which I can access through my android phone. So for the time being I’m going to do a lot of typing and write ups for the comic to get it down before I get some random amnesiac disease.
